Game 5 - Renewable Energy Innovations
Introduction
In the vibrant city of Energia, where the winds of change blow strong and the sun shines on ideas of progress, lies a challenge like no other: the Renewable Energy Quest. This journey will take you through the realms of solar, wind, and water power, where you’ll unlock the secrets of sustainable energy sources and become a champion of the environment.
As a bright-eyed inhabitant of Energia, you are determined to make a difference. With a spark of curiosity and a gust of ambition, you step into the Renewable Energy Lab, a place buzzing with potential and kinetic dreams. Here, you will encounter interactive exhibits, innovative technologies, and the collective wisdom of past and present energy pioneers.
Through the lab’s immersive experiences, you will harness the power of renewable resources and spread the light of knowledge throughout Energia. Your mission is clear: to become a Guardian of the Environment.
Main Goal of The Game
The main aim of the game is to earn as many “energy bars” and badges as possible by completing the challenges (mandatory and optional) in all three game levels.
The primary objective is to navigate through all levels of the Renewable Energy Lab and earn the title of GUARDIAN of the Environment!
General Rules
The player starting with 0 energy bars.
As challenges are completed, the player gains a certain number of “energy bars” in each level. The adventure through the Renewable Energy Lab consists of three levels, each focusing on a different aspect of renewable energy:
- Solar Power;
- Wind Energy;
- Hydropower.
Each level is composed of mandatory challenges, with levels one and three offering optional games. Energy bars and badges are awarded for each successfully completed challenge.

LEVEL 1 - SOLAR POWER ADVANCEMENTS
On this level you can earn max 85 energy bars. (65 mandatory + 20 optional)
- Challenge 1: max 20 energy bars
- Challenge 3: max 20 energy bars
- Challenge 4: max 25 energy bars
- Challenge 2 optional: max 20 energy bars
If you reach less than 60 energy bars at this level you receive the badge: SILVER SOLAR SCHOLAR BADGE.
If you reach 60 and more energy bars at this level you receive the badge: SUPER GOLD SOLAR SCHOLAR BADGE.
LEVEL 2 - WIND ENERGY BREAKTHROUGHS
On this level you can earn max 80 energy bars. (60 mandatory + 20 optional)
- Challenge 1: max 20 energy bars
- Challenge 2: max 40 energy bars
- Challenge 3 optional : max 20 energy bars
If you reach less than 60 energy bars at this level you receive the badge : SILVER WIND WHISPERER BADGE.
If you reach 60 and more energy bars at this level you receive the badge: GOLD WIND WHISPERER BADGE.
Badge for students that will design the best turbine model: A TRUE MECHANIC BADGE.
LEVEL 3 - HYDROPOWER GENERATION TECHNIQUES
On this level you can earn max 80 energy bars
- Challenge 1: max 40 energy bars
- Challenge 2: max 40 energy bars
If you reach less than 60 energy bars at this level you receive the badge : SILVER AQUA MAN/ AQUA WOMAN.
If you reach 60 and more energy bars at this level you receive the badge: GOLD AQUA MAN/ AQUA WOMAN.
Challenges
Below you will find a list of the mandatory and optional challenges along with the maximum number of energy bars to be scored for each challenge that awaits you at each level.
LEVEL 1 – SOLAR POWER ADVANCEMENTS
INTERACTIVE QUIZ ON SOLAR ENERGY BASICS
MANDATORY – 20 ENERGY BARS.
You have to answer to the quiz.
Each correct answer is awarded with 2.5 energy bars.
CREATION OF HIDDEN WORDS GAME
OPTIONAL – 20 (15 + 5) ENERGY BARS.
You have to create a list of words that have to do with solar energy and place the words from your list into the grid.
You can place them horizontally, vertically, diagonally, or even backward to increase difficulty. Once all the words are placed, you have to fill the remaining empty spaces in the grid with random letters. This will make it harder to spot the hidden words.
If you create a game with 15 words (max), you should be rewarded with (max) 15 energy bars – 1 energy bar per word.
The player that will solve the puzzle first, will be awarded extra with 5 energy bars.
SOLAR PANEL DESIGN CHALLENGE
MANDATORY –20 ENERGY BARS.
Now its time to design in canva your own poster that explains how solar panels transform solar energy into electricity in a house “How does home solar power work?”.
HOMEOWNER’S GUIDE TO GOING SOLAR
MANDATORY – 25 ENERGY BARS.
In this challenge you have to create a presentation explaining to your parents Why and how they should go solar? For this you will have to do some research and after, create a presentation of their findings. You can decide the way of presentation (power point, canva, google presentations etch).
All guidelines as to what the content should contain and what the presentation should look like will be given to you by your teacher.
You will get energy bars for the content (15 points max) and for the presentation design (10 point max).
LEVEL 2 – WIND ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH
WIND ENERGY BREAKTROUGHS QUIZ
MANDATORY – 20 ENERGY BARS
Let’s check your knowledge about wind energy.
For each correct answer you will get 2.5 energy bars.
FIND INFORMATION AND PHOTOGRAPHS ABOUT A BIG WIND FARM
MANDATORY – 40 ENERGY BARS.
Challenge in the teams.
Create teams of 2- 3 students and create a presentation of your findings about a big wind farm. The team will decide the way of presentation (power point, leaflet, video or even a TedTalk).
All guidelines as to what the content should contain and what the presentation should look like will be given to you by your teacher.
For the content your team can get max 15 energy bars and for presentation design max 25 energy bars – max 40 energy bars.
DIGITALLY DESIGN A MINIATURE WIND TURBINE MODEL
OPTIONAL – 20 ENERGY BARS.
Now it is time to draw a miniature turbine model. You can use the following software https://qblade.org/ (advanced) or just draw a miniature turbine model with something creative on it.
For this challenge A TRUE MECHANIC BADGE will be awarded to the student that will design the best turbine model.
LEVEL 3 – HYDROPOWER GENERATION TECHNIQUES
ANALYSIS OF HYDROPOWER’S CARBON FOOTPRINT
MANDATORY – 40 ENERGY BARS.
Write a short analysis of max 300 words. In this analysis you should include: What is the carbon footprint? Calculation of your carbon footprint and max 5 ideas in your daily life with explanation how each example will help reduce the carbon footprint.
PRESENTATION ON INNOVATIONS IN HYDROPOWER
MANDATORY – 40 ENERGY BARS.
You are free to search the internet for Innovations in Hydropower and present them in the way you prefer.
All guidelines as to what the content should contain and what the presentation should look like will be given to you by your teacher.
For the content your team can get max 20 energy bars and for presentation design max 20 energy bars – max 40 energy bars.
FINISH LINE
The energy bars you earn will translate into the final mark you receive for your actions in the game.
